Art in the Paddock

Each year artists from around the region are invited to participate and set up in an outdoor location somewhere in the Clarence Valley where the views inspire and feed the soul.
This year Art in the Paddock will be held at Yulgilbar Castle, the second time it has been presented in the beautiful gardens of this historic station that was established in the 1840s by Edward and Frederick Olgilvie.
Guests are treated to a day of fine arts on display, which are available for purchase, fine art demonstrations, sketching activities, great food and wonderful music.
Yulgilbar Castle is situated in the Upper Clarence and as part of this event, a licensed bar will operate, featuring Peterson’s Wines and Coopers beers. Why not take the easy option and let our driver take care of transport? Transport tickets cost just $24 for the return trip. Timetable:
8.30am Bus departs 260 Yamba Road (opposite Yamba Fair), Yamba
8.50am Picks up outside Riverland Travel, 191 River Street, Maclean
9.35am Picks up on Bent Street outside Coles car park, South Grafton
9.45am Picks up at Grafton Regional Gallery, Grafton
10.55am Arrives at Yulgilbar Station, Baryulgil
Artists are asked to arrive from 9.00am to 9.30am and can book in one helper (eg. your partner or friend) as an artist as well to help you on the day.
The Gallery Foundation will levee a 20% commission on all sales made at this event.
A delicious fare of savoury and sweet foods hand made by some of the best cooks of the Clarence Valley, served with a range of teas and coffee. Presented by The Gallery Foundation volunteers. Tickets: $25 SOLD OUT
Sketch House Tours
Five artists will be painting and sketching at the Sketch House at Yulgilbar Station which looks out over the Yulgilbar Castle and the Clarence River. This is your chance to engage with the artists, see art in the making, enjoy the view of this historical site and take some great photographs. Tickets: $15 SOLD OUT
A 50 minute tour of the Archives of Yulgilbar Station presented by the curators of the archives. Tickets: $25 SOLD OUT
Wine & Cheese
Enjoy a fine Peterson’s Wine or a cool Coopers Beer with a platter of tasty morsels on the veranda of Yulgilbar Castle. A perfect end to a great day. Tickets: $15
there is limited phone reception and no wi-fi available at Yulgilbar Castle. Attendees are advised to bring cash for food and art purchases, as there will be no EFTPOS facilities. For high value art sales, credit card details will be taken and charged after the event.
in case of poor weather, the event will be postponed to a subsequent weekend. Ticket holders will be advised via the email address they used to book. Please check our social media channels on a regular basis for announcements.
There is no photography allowed in the gardens of Yulgilbar Castle due to privacy concerns. People who have booked into our Sketch House Tours can take photographs at and from the Sketch House.
